    Hi all,
today my camera was stolen.... I have of course reported the incident to the police, that found few hours later my bag with no camera inside (please lets not discuss this any further).

I would like to have your help between the f3 and the n3.. mostly comparing their differences

    1. N3 is kind smaller but is strong enough to hold heavy adapted lenses?
    2. Which of the two has betteer iso performance? That is very very important for me.
    3. Any other nex camera up to 400 euros (even second hand). And if yes what extra does it offer compared to my f3? Utilities like wifi or touch screen are not that important compared to better image qualities (less noisy iso measurements).

    Regards
    Alex

    So sad.

The N3 is the budget NEX, with many features missing. What it does great is interact with the 16-50mm zoom.

I have the F3 and love it. I gravitated towards the built in flash.

The best bet is to go to the store and try them out.

I bought a used like new nex-f3 for my GF and I can tell you it works very nicely. I have the 6 and we had a ton of fun just going around shooting. I tried it and is a nice camera. Of course, I miss the EVF so it wouldnt work for me but of the two, the F3 would be my choice.

I tend to agree the n3 looks to be short of handicapped version of f3 at least in terms of specs.

I have the 3N and I can say that for the price, you can't beat it. Here's a side by side comparison:

    NEX-3N vs NEX-F3

    • 3N is about 30% smaller than the F3
    • 3N is about 10% lighter than the F3
    • 3N is about 20% thinner than the F3
    • 3N has a slightly better battery life (480 shots vs 470 shots)
    • F3 has a better screen (about 2x higher resolution)
    • F3 turns on faster than the 3N
    • F3 has slightly lower noise at high ISO
    • F3 has a hotshoe for flash or other accessories, 3N does not
    • Both have built in flash
    • DxOMark rates the 3N as having slightly higher image quality (74 vs 73)

I found most of this info here:
    Sony NEX-3N vs NEX-F3 - Our Analysis

In general, they both seem very comparable. Personally, I love the small size of my 3N, and the image quality I have been getting has far exceeded my expectations. I have not used the F3 so I cannot compare directly. I do wish the 3N had at least a hotshoe so I could use an external flash or other accessories, like an EVF, but so far I haven't really felt the need for it.

Even though the screen is lower resolution, it is good enough, and focus peaking works great.

    Just my $0.02 :)

    I agree with ecaggiani.

Except possibly the screen. F is a higher resolution yes, but in use I couldn't see that it seemed better or worse to be honest.

I looked at both, and to be honest, the F seemed a tad better, but I kept getting drawn to the pockatability of the N with the 16-50 lens. As the old saying goes, the best camera is the one you have with you....

In the end, I chose the N and don't regret it. If portability is not an issue, I'd say the F probably and it's likely to be cheaper.

For a portrait shooter, the flash is a must (more so in bright sun than in poor light), so unless you are willing to give up EVF, 5 is out. Unless you only shoot landscapes.

    Far better because is plastic?
You made no effort to backup your statement. I still will go with the F3
