Is anyone using the F20M flash on the A6000? Does it work DIRECTLY on the A6000's shotshoe or do you need an adapter? I have an A6000 owner that wants to buy my F20M but I don't know if need a hotshoe adapter or not.
If you look at photos of the F20M, you will notice that it's a lazy design. They just took the older F20AM, and instead of replacing the older Minolta mount with a standard mount, they grafted a built-in ADP-MAA adapter onto the bottom of it. Unless you find it very much on sale, you are better off in my opinion buying the F20AM with adapter. This way if you ever come across a good price on a flash like the F43AM, you can straight use it without issue since you'll already have the adapter. The whole appeal of the F20AM was that it folded flat down against the camera, just like the NEX-3 and NEX-5's associated flashes do. With the stupid design of the F20M, you lose the advantage.
