Based on reading the review, the 5R body looks improved. Certainly the controls are improved, but that pancake kit zoom looks terrible. Further down the page, the reviewer gets to vignetting and distortion testing. Unless his distortion sheet is itself crumpled, then that's REALLY complex distortion! Barrel on the edges, but pincushion in the center!
It's better at the telephoto end: http://dcvieweditor.smugmug.com/Other/Sony-NEX-5R/i-ptRMP5n/0/O/distt.gif
And the corners are the worst I have ever seen, with double of vertical lines!

I would consider the 5r body (they can keep the lens!) over the 6 for the capacitive touch screen, which has been wonderful for me the last few weeks, for selecting AF points (though it's more finicky than the EM5 touch screen. It's more confusing to use).
(the links above I pasted from the original article for quick reference, but please read the original article, as it's very understandable even in Google translate, and gives a very good overview of the 5R).
I think we have to wait for more samples. The people who have shot and tested the 16-50mm on DPR tend to say that it's better than the old 18-55mm kit. They do point out that you need one of the new NEX models to fully auto correct the distortion. Somehow I don't think Sony will release a firmware fix for the old discontinued models.
How on earth do you fix those edges/corners with FW? That would be a sight to see.
