Took some shots of this electrical storm while I was away. I got many shots like the first shot, while what I wanted was like the second shot. Unfortunately the second shot is a failure, I'm still kicking myself

I'm just seeing these on my smartphone and the images are too small for me to fully see / appreciate them, but what I can see sure looks good...will check again later

You will see it on your pc monitor, I had selected far too slow a shutter speed, thinking the tripod wood hold it steady enough. Need to get a cheap ebay shutter release heh

Neat shot, shame about the movement as you say.

You could use the time-lapse app to keep taking photos over and over without you needing to touch the camera. Plus you have the benefit of a potentially cool movie you could make afterwards.

Yeah that's a good idea, when my a7s is delivered ( hopefully tomorrow) I will then have a second body and be more flexible with the things I can attempt.

OK, I see the strike is a little fat.
But I'll tell you what, you were out there getting it and it's still a good enough / unique enough photo to share / discuss like this.

I've used the smartphone remote app a few times with great success.

The way I was shooting was in speed priority, the only issue is I don't think any kind of remote trigger supports this

All triggers support all shooting modes...? You set the camera first, then use the trigger to trigger it.
