DOG PORTRAITS WITH 28-70mm KIT LENS

I usually choose my 70-200mm f.4 G OSS lens for dog portraits with my APSC cameras. However, I decided to try the kit lens and the results, while not quite up to 70-200mm standards,

are acceptable. Since these are my daughter's dogs and we are doggy siting for her, I could always reshoot if needed...

Are you kidding me? Those dogs would be gone from the shelter before you could get the pictures up on the web. And that 28-70 just shows them off.

Nothing wrong with that lens. And those doggies look great.

Actually for its price and size, this is a decent lens... Not a GREAT lens but a lens that will provide very adequate imagery for Internet postings. I paid only $100 USD for this 28-70 lens on the used market. Seems like it is available pretty regularly at prices from $100 to $150 and it is a LOT smaller in size than the other Sony lenses in that approximate focal range..
Occasionally, when traveling, I will bring this lens and the Rokinon 12mm f/2 as an extremely light weight kit which will do fairly well for most of my photography...

The 28-70mm can be quite a good little lens on the APS-C platform.

Did you notice any qualitative difference between images from the 18-135mm and the 28-70mm lenses. I realize that the 18-135mm provides a very handy focal range for a crop format camera but, I am wondering if the images from the 18-135mm are as sharp or even sharper than those from the 28-70mm.

Both are pretty similar in quality on the APS-C.

The biggest reason for the change was the better focal length.
