The city is making a huge comeback. Downtown has no more housing to offer, workforce is armed with jobs and new businesses are opening up every month. However, there are parts forgotten. Places that will still give you the creeps. I wanted to share this with you guys!

Thanks for being awesome as always.

Love the road sign in the first one, Joseph. But seeing a school in that condition just makes me real sad.

Thanks and agreed. On a positive note, they are rebuilding the city one block at a time, eliminating a lot of waste and excess. Detroit was bigger than Boston and Manhattan combined. Too big of a city with too few jobs and resources. Now they are taking one district at a time and loading it up with goodies. Lets hope this continues.

Nice pics Joseph! Well, maybe "nice" isn't the right word.... Shocking, perhaps!

Closer to where I live is Gary, Indiana which is kind of like Detroit in miniature, minus the re-birth in some neighborhoods. It just gets emptier and emptier. I've seen a few closed schools in Gary turn from looking fairly intact to vandalized hulks in just a few short years. When the scrappers steal all the metal window frames, the weather gets in and the deterioration goes way up. Its sad.

Thanks. I have heard of Gary myself, although I had little idea of what it's like until now. Thats unfortunate that this is happening in a lot of Midwestern states. I guess we will all eventually move away from production jobs and our economies will kick back into gear. Detroit is benefiting from the auto industry's rebirth and a lot of tech jobs are moving down there. Last I heard, downtown and midtown were completely packed with no more apartments to rent. Hopefully this spreads throughout the midwest. (Declaring bankruptcy helped)

Love it! Really nice processing with the desaturated colours. Suit the subject quite well, glad to hear there is a recovery happening.

Simply excellent! The school scenes struck a chord for me too.
The remains being documented in images should be and must be done.
I applaud those who have the fortitude to risk entering these sites.
Detroit will be immortalized in economic studies of systemic failure.
What has happened there and so many other towns across the country, is a tragedy. But here isn't the place to mount a soapbox and rant about it.
