    Hi all,

I have a Vivitar 550FD flash, designated Minolta/Pentax/Olympus, but it doesn't fit the A57 hotshoe. Am I just thick or is it not supposed to fit without adapter? I thought it should???

    Thanks for any info!

I suppose the flash has an ISO hotshoe common with most cameras except Minolta/Sony. The Minolta/Sony hotsho is different and technicly superior to the ISO. Only disadvantage is that it is not so common. Now even Sony has abandoned it on A99 and NEX-6 in favour of the lousy ISO-shoe.

You can buy an adapter Minolta/Sony camera shoe > ISO flash. That might help but most likely you will have to use the flash manually.

Thanks Michael, I think you're right, the flash has the old ISO hotshoe, which I didn't realise some of the old Minolta camera's have. Bit of a dud for me really. Think I'll just splash on the Metz 50, which is still cheaper than the HVL43AM, but pretty good by all accounts. :)
