Testing the Contarex CZ Sonnar 85mm f2 w/ A7R. There is some separation in the lens but not bad for 50 yr old lens. Mostly shots are from home since I am sick and it was arctic temps outside...

No need for excuses serhan, they are great. :)

May I enquire as to what adaptor is required for this lens?

Thanks. MFD is 80cm, so it helps on getting closer.

I got the cheapest adapter from HK in ebay. I received in a week. You change the aperture at the adapter, so it is a more complicated one. I saw Alibaba was selling it even cheaper. Here is the ebay listing:

Contarex lenses are very interesting, but they are usually expensive esp in ebay due to the limited numbers and collectors. The mfd's are very short. I have one Planar 50mm f2 is coming also with 30cm mfd. Hopefully it is not too bad condition, risk of buying an old lens. It looks like lens separation is a common issue with them. I sent 85mm today to Henry Sherer for CLA/repair:

I learned more about the Zeiss history last one week or so when I was checking the Contarex'es. If you are interested, here is a good read out:

50mm & 85mm came from CLA and they look like brand new. Couple test shots, bokeh looks smoother & second one is pushing the high iso a little with slow shutter speed (iso 12800 opened up another stop or so at 1/13sec):
