Beautiful day in South Florida for a car show. Hundreds of cars and plenty of people and food to feed them.

The Zeiss 55mm is amongst the best primes I have ever shot with, the problem in this setting though is it almost forces you to shoot tight. In these settings I prefer a wide angle to get shots of the cars with the entire car in the frame, as opposed to bits and pieces, this or that, which works but not for every frame IMO.

I like detail and "parts". I can always back up, and I have ultra wides with my Nikon. In my uses, the 55/1.8 is perfect. When Zeiss markets a 28mm, or less, FF auto-prime, I'll get one. Until then, I'm in no rush as the 55 works well for me.

yes sir, different styles, I prefer the entire car as this is often what I must supply my clients with. For partials the 55mm is hard to beat, and like you I eagerly await some wide Zeiss primes.

You can't always back up though if the setting is a show due to people and other cars, this where one can snuggle in up close with a wide angle.

One of my favorite bodies is my tiny Sony Rx100 mIII because I can go wide and then go tight.
