This afternoon I was playing with my nex5 and a flower, trying to close up, and wanted to Share with ustdes to receive some criticism and comments, I used a tripod and the kit 18-55mm, and some macro lens, I purchased on ebay ..

Annex other pictures taken with the kit ...

Nice shots buddy, I would use some light with the first three images, a spray of fine mist of water (just to get that 'fresh macro accentuating look') but all in all a great capture.

Hi freddy, are you pleased with it? Or if buying again recommend something different?
Well, I'm happy, now I have 2 tripods, but most of time I use the VCT-R640, it is not so heavy and fits my comfort, good match with the nex5n and my backpack, SLRC-206 Case Logic.
Also I have the Sunpak 6600DX, is aluminum and is not heavy, I can't remember how much paid for it, but it was something cheap to start practicing, I use very little.

For your needs Ray I think you should still consider the one I have, Manfrotto Compact MKC3-H01. It's a very compact good value tripod and its versatile, I use it at home to take close up shots/macro of objects. I can place the object on my coffee table using the unextended tripod, set up the shot, set camera on timer and hey presto a prefect steady shot.

I'll take another look, it needs to fit my bag.

Ok so I'm not sure, this is the spec of my holder:

Height 48cm, Leg perimeter 30cm, Head base perimeter 29cm and weight 2kg.

Freddy, Costco is currently selling the incredibly light, carbon fiber tripod and head, Sunpak 433 weighing about 2.5 pounds, for $99! The quality for this price is quite good and it makes a super travel tripod. And, oh, nice macros.

They are all very sharp.
I especially like #5 (looks like rose clover) and #7 (the lily). But suggest you crop a little on the left side of #5.
