Wyf picked up some new glass ornaments for the tree the other day. Mr. Observant didn't notice until this morning, but having noticed I then proceeded to shoot them.

5N/Tamron 28-75@75mm & f/5.6 from about 2 feet or so. Background color variation is by choice, nothing the camera did weird. I was trying to decide what worked best & still haven't decided.

Me and missus are not celebrating christmas due to unfortunate events in both our families, but other than that Christmas down here is pretty much the same as everywhere else, the only main difference is instead of cold it's hot, it's a bit odd at times since most christmas icons revolve around winter, like snow, snowmen, etc.. probably less here in Melbourne though as it is cool here almost all year round.

My mother-in-law spent Christmas in Australia a few years ago and has pictures of them on a beach. Here in Phoenix it can get warm, in the 70's-80's during Christmas time, but that is our winter time. I can't imagine Christmas in our summer when it is 100+.

Sorry to hear about the family misfortunes. I know it must be difficult, but there is a Spirit that is different during Christmas. Hopefully you can feel a bit of that Spirit. God bless.

@ Dave

Thank you very much.

Anyways! I'll try to find some christmas lights that's uniquely Australian (it's gonna be a challenge believe me).

Usually the temp range for Christmas here is between 23 - 27 C (77 - 80 F) but sometimes the weather can be a real smarty pants and throw a 42 degree day (108 F).

I guess it must be odd for you as well having a warm christmas when most of the christmas icons revolve around winter.

Phoenix, I'm sorry to hear of the problems you and your wife's families are having. Thanks for sharing some holiday photos. I like the way the lights look in B&W.

Thank you, we're both trying to move on, its a part of life and all you can do is to process your grief and try to move on.

I'm glad you like the photos, I cant wait to shoot photos on the NEX-7 when it becomes available (in B&W of course ;))

I know!! I havent really noticed it before but there is no christmas kangaroos (I would prefer a wombat though), as for the last photo, I think the jury is still out whether the people who live in that house works for the power company, or if they are trying to attract aliens from space.
