I have a chance to buy Zeiss 188 f4 Leitax converted for EF for £350. It is in nice order and optics are really clean.
With EOS to Sony adapter it should mount fine.
Any advice? Go for it or forget it? Thanks.

I remember reading that this doesn't quite give full frame coverage on the a7 series and will need cropping to about 20mm. Also lenses like these can tend to have a purple cast in the corners (can be fixed with software such as "cornerfix") and also may have smearing in the corners. My limited knowledge on this would make me think twice before purchasing. Perhaps someone else will know more, best of luck.

I think you are talking about the leica m version that needs corner fix... C/Y version is the Contax brand slr version and works with A7 series:
    Sony A7RII + Zeiss Distagon 18mm f4 (or similar..)...?

and the lens reviews on slrs:

    Thanks.
I think I will give it a miss. You cant use it open and have to stop it down to f 5.6 upward.
    I am looking at Minolta 17-35 f2.8~4 non G.
I am happy with kit lens (16-50) which doesnt have many appriciations but I like it very much.Perhaps I have a better copy!
I need something to cover A7 FF.

    Thank you.
I have given it a miss because as you said or I understood as there are variations between samples and I wouldnt know if I was buying a bad sample.
Price was £349 which is less than average but still not sold!
