1st Generation NEW 200/2.8 has the Helicoid focusing mechanism (like the 200mm Macro)...came out right before the IF (Internal Focus) version came out...seems to be a good lens on the NEX-7.

Great shots! How does it handle? Does it feel big and heavy or somewhat compact? I've been eying one of these with a couple teleconverters as a lighter travel rig for wildlife.

Probably too subjective to answer those questions for someone else's decision making....to me it's neither too heavy nor compact...just a good handling lens. MIR.com has it listed and would have its weight

Thanks, that's about what I had figured from the measurements and weight. I have a FDn 300/4 and the 200/2.8 is about 200g lighter and 70mm shorter.

The 300 is one of my all time favorites...it pretty much stays mounted on a camera all the time
