I'm considering getting one of these to use via my Fotodiox adaptor.
According to this site it auto focuses fine with the A7Rii + Fotodiox adapter.

Has anyone tried this lens on the A7 series cameras, how did you find it?

One of the sharpest lenses I owned back in my Canon days.
I had both versions but the non IS version was the best VFM lens I owned

Interestingly, earlier today, I read a thread on a different forum about this lens. That member decided on the Minolta 80-200 f/2.8 HS G lens.

He purchased his from Japan in Mint +++ condition. He indicated it was a third of the cost of the Canon as well smaller and lighter. He used a LA-EA4 adaptor and indicated that the AF was fast and accurate.

    Something to consider.

Let us know what you decide. When I purchased my A7ii I purchased a 55 1.8 with it. My goal was to add a 28 and a 70-200. My 28 arrives tomorrow. In view of the cost of the 70-200, I may opt for the Minolta Beer Can or the 80-200.

I have the Sony 28 and the Ziess 55 F1.8 and a Canon EF-100 f2, the 70-200L f4 non IS seems to sell used for around £250 -350 in the UK, which is a lot cheaper then the £999 for the Sony ( although the Sony can be bought new for about £750 from a grey importer).
I already have the EF - E mount adaptor so will look into the Minolta but are favouring the Canon at the moment.

Yes, if we search and are lucky, we can find some good glass at reduced cost.

Prior to my A7ii I was a Nikon shooter. Let us know what you decide.

I've just bought a Canon 70-200 L f4 Non IS lens for £280 del, looks to be in mint condition so looking forward to trying it out.
I'm offshore on an oil platform for another 2 weeks so looking forward to my new toy when I get back.
