I spent 7hrs outdoors in record breaking Heatwave(32C/90F) handheld with the Tamron Adaptall 200-500mm on my A7 at the Airshow London(Canada).

Shots that great, handheld, with that lens, and no IBIS?

Wow! Just... Wow! Most impressive. Great detail.
And like David said, handheld, with that range and weight lens, those are doubly great shots!

BTW, I have to ask, in picture #1 of the lens, in the background with your lens collection, what is that device on the right... the black rounded holder-thingy with the staggered circular holes? That looks ideal as an off-the-rack device for holding lenses, and with what appears to be a strap, even more useful.

Great shots! Also in regards to your first photo...when I think I have a bad case of GAS, it's good to know there are people who have it even worst than me! :D

These are superb!! Way to go! I tried to manually shoot an airshow with the little Tamron sibling, their SP 23A 60-300mm and it was a task and a half. And couldn't get a shot as good as these. Congrats!

I prefer the 23a to this beast. I used 23a at last year's show. If I had a gun to my head to use only 2 adaptalls for the rest of my life. I would choose the 23A and the 01A and be happy.

Just discovered these impressive shots of the airshow. I've tried capturing photos of moving planes, but never succeeded like this. I know these subjects are very fast moving - and to get one "stopped" and sharp with your camera is a herculean feat. You are an extraordinary action shooter. Maybe that's where your forum name originated - 'Silver-Surfer'. Thanks for sharing these. Can you also share your secret for capturing a fast moving object with a very long lens?

    Look again, Del, he's sliver-surfer. :D

And I bet his "secret" is that he's younger than us. :rolleyes-20:

Thanks..I just got 4 more lenses in the mail this week..I have a GAS problem and I love it. Vivitar 28-85mm close focus(curiosity), A second adaptall 01a 35-80mm 2.8-3.8(keeper), an adaptall 46a 70-210mm(selling), Russian RO-109-1A 50mm F1.2 projector lens(project/victim?). Oh and I am super excited about a Russian Photo Snaiper mount/Gunstock coming in to adapt to my a6000 and a tele lens I havent decided on yet but most likely a adaptall 60-300mm

Cool! The photo-sniper setup should be very cool and stable for those long wildlife captures. Just don't get shot by the cops when you're out and about using it. :D
    (a reality these days!)

That 01A...best of the best of standard zooms from the manual-focus era. I have yet to try the Minolta MD Rokkor 28-85 f/3.5, claimed to be the king, but I've not seen anything that can match the 01A yet. Especially when price is factored in.
