I didn't realize that on a Sony Mirrorless Camera such as the A7iii, you can determine the firmware version of the lens you are using as well as the camera firmware version through use of the camera menu...
On the A7iii, choose Menu > Toolbox > Page 7 > Version
On the A7iii the version is shown on the ToolBox Page 7... On other cameras, the Toolbox Page might be different.
I was happy to learn that my A7iii and Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens are both up to date regarding firmware.
However, if you need to update your lens firmware - here is a YouTube instructional video regarding that update.
