Just got back from a week long visit to Burma and the north west state of Rhakine where Mrauk U is located.

All shots with the A7ii and native lenses.

    Some of my favorite pics.

The first shot is incredible, everything flows into the person holding the pot!

One question, do they put small fires inside each pot? makes for an amazing light for photography

Fantastic shots Robbie. Colors are very natural without looking over saturated, over contrasty. Literally looks like you are there in the photos. Could have come from a lonely planet guide!

Do you mind sharing how you processed these? How do you do your color?

One final point... man that 70-200 is biting sharp!

Well they possibly look fairly natural because I have done relatively little in post.

I generally start in LR adjust highlights/shadows, black/white points and sometime add a little warmth. I rarely touch contrast, clarity, vibrance or saturation.

I then go into PS, clone away any minor distractions. Sometimes use a bit of Nik Viveza/Color Efex.

There are possibly a couple of things I did that are a little different.

With some images I do a black and white in PS with Silver Efex and then place a color version on the layer above and change the blend mode to 'color' - effectively the black and white provides the lumiinosity and the color layer the color.

For sharpening I use the 'surface blur' method (as recommended by the likes of Jimmy Mcintyre (who offers a free action) and Calvin Hollywood). This allows you to sharpen aggressively without generating any halos. (If surface blur takes forever on your computer, change the photo to 8 bit.)

You can see an example here...

Thanks for being so generous to share your technique :)

Why don't you create a separate thread for your portrait work here.. akin Maxims and Vin's work over on mu-43 ?!
