It landed, knew I had seconds, grabbed a camera, and lucked out before it flew off. "F8 and Don't Be Late" works as good as ever !!

Very nice captures. This looks like a juvenile and it seems early for migration so I wonder where and when you took the picture. I too have a Broadwing hanging about but I'm in Colombia.

East coast USA...since I got birds coming to my back yard regularly last year , I've been shooting BW Hawks every month since last October

Gorgeous! I've never had the opportunity to even try a close-up with any raptor. Never even came close.

With their razor sharp eyes, I think we pretty much have to work it so they come to us without realizing it...this one landed in that limb about 40-50 feet away, hoping to catch a squirrel or bird around the feeders like it's done in the past

I finally had plenty of sun yesterday so even at ISO100 I was able to stop down to F8, still had decent shutter speed, and a solid beanbag rest...best of all conditions

    PS:
I forgot to mention...these shots are NEX-7 ISO100 JPEGs SOOC.
I moved them into Lightroom in order to export them back out with an experimental 'watermark'...however, all the shot conditions seemed to come together just fine as it was.
