For some reason, birds rarely appear at our feeders except in the morning/evening twilight times, and when it is rainy and overcast. We had a lot of birds today while it was raining, but as soon as the sun appeared, they vanished. During our FEB/MAR Winter blitz, the birds ignored our feeders completely, and we had some sunny - albeit very cold - days. At the same time, I could stand in our front room and watch the birds flitting all around the feeders two houses down. I haven't figured it out. Here's a few from today with the OM-D E-M5 +ZD 50-200mm. First time I've ever been successful at photographing a Downy Woodpecker - at least, that's what I think the smaller one is.
