so i want to upgrade my 70-200 zoom lens with either 1 of these three options:

    tamron 70-200 f2.8 sony e mount

    sigma 70-200 f2.8 sony e mount

sony 70-200 f4 (f2.8 is out due to price)

would be using it primarily for surfing photography & video, secondarily for landscapes etc.

what would you guys recommend at this point, native lens & smaller aperture or offbrand & 2.8?

Personally I strongly favor native lenses so my choice would be the Sony FE 4/70-200. I guess surfing is usually in good light, so you probably won't need f/2.8 and AF will be more reliable with a native lens.

Since you wrote Video, and not Portraits, my concern would be AF speed and consistency with non-native. Although the Sigma probably would do better given their own MC-11 adapter. I'm not aware of Tamron offering a native E-mount. If you were shooting low light and portraits, I'd say, go for a f/2.8. But your shooting needs are better satisfied with the Sony f/4.

I think it's only Sony A-mount for that model.
