    Got some pics of this great looking bird while I was away, shame the longest lens I had on hand was 135 a 200mm + would have been useful.

    Both shots have been cropped a bit, in the second shot its hard too see but he has caught a praying mantis and is about to dig in.

    Nice shot...at first I thought it had some strange dark coloring in the first shot then realized it was strong shadows (I guess)...pretty bird.
    Yes, a 200mm would have been nice...truth be known, a 300mm is an excellent all around bird lens.
    There is so much beauty in nature all around us every day...so far, I never get tired of shooting it

    Thanks, before my trip I had never seen this bird before so I was quite interested.

    well done Chris -im surprised it let you get reasonable close -most all the OZ raptors are easily spooked & fly off..ive had them disappear even when i slow my car down little-own stop. which state did you capture it in?

    Yes he didn't want me too close and kept flying away, this was northern N.S.W near Lismore
