My 2011 iMac has white screen. Would you get AppleCare on a new iMac?

AppleCare is only valid for a fixed period of time ( 5 years ?).
It would have been long finished before the incident that is the issue right now.

Vthank you. I'm going to replace it because already I am unable to update my various software like Lightroom and Blogstomp etc. Will probably spring for the AppleCare reluctantly
