    As with the FD 35-105 tests...after a couple weeks of fresh images of birds at 600mm / with tripod / using remote trigger, I decided to test an elbow-rested hand-held, manual shutter trigger using my 50-135/3.5 on the same birds under the same circumstances and see how well it did...and like the 35-105, I think these results are pretty decent as well.

    Sony NEX-7, Canon FD 50-135/3.5 Zoom @ 135
    Tiny Bluebird was 40’ away, kitchen window raised, elbows on window sill
    Two photos, long distance original then super-cropped way up

    ORIGINAL LONG DISTANCE SHOT

    THEN CROPPED ALL THE WAY UP

    THIS LAST PHOTO WAS TAKEN (20 feet) FOR A COUPLE REASONS

    1) The little guy on the left was just singing his heart out...or had brass ones and was telling the cardinal to leave !
    2) The Female Cardinal on the right is a new fledgling, 3/4 size of a full grown bird;
    (amazing how the feather colors & pattern identically match that of an adult already)
