Road Atlanta is only 25 minutes from the home and I try to make it out there for certain events when I can.

The American Endurance Racing (AER) event it's neccessarly open to spectators but pretty much anyone can show up and watch the racing. From experience at past events, I did know that there are certain areas that are off limits unless you have credentials. Being a private event, I emailed AER asking for access and within a few days I recieved an email from the organization president along with a signed letter asking Road Atlanta to give me access to the paddock and the other areas that are normally off-limits.

This was first real outing with the A7II and it performed beautifully. The only real issue I has was when attempting to use the LCD to compose some shots and the camera was switching to the viewfinder instead. I have read that it's a bit sensitive and that there is a fix/hack for this.

Most of the photos were taken with three different adapted lenses on the A7II - A Minolta MD Mount 50mm f1.7, a Nikon Series E 50mm f1.8 and a JCPenny 135mm f2.8 Canon FD Mount. Saturday was a bit wet so I did use my Olympus E-M1 with the 12-40 Pro for some of the shots.

The entire set can be found here: American Endurance Racing - Road Atlanta - Feb 2018

Guess I'll have to step up my game now once again.
Nice work Andy!
Wish I was only 25 min from a race track.

Thank you. I would love to shoot the superbikes. I think I'd have to up my panning skills.

I think the thing about this thread Andy, is that you've managed to show us good pictures made with what a lot of people here would consider very 'pedestrian' lenses, if you know what I mean. I'm all for that as I don't have a large budget for lenses, but I do have some 'pedestrian' ones so maybe there's hope for me yet.

You did a lot here considering it seemed to be a cloudy day. The colors of the cars came out wonderfully. Great job :)
