i loved the contax ax upon which this adaper is based. i found focusing those great--and huge--contax zeiss lenses very accurate. if this works anything like the ol' ax it is a gamechanger for me and i bet a lot of others as well.

query, why would they not 'guarantee' it working on the a7s/ii cameras?

My guess is that those cameras didn't get the latest (2.0) update, which enabled phase detection focusing on the A7II and A7RII.

The focusing difference between my old A7 and my new A7II with the Contax adapter is night and day.

I like the idea. I wonder how well it works. I probably will not get one. But there are many people out there with a lot a M mount lenses.

As I understand it, it will not solve the full frame edge issues of *most* wide angle M mounts lenses. So it will be, I think, suited best for 35mm and longer focal length lenses, at least for full frame.

Conceivable, couldn't it have a macro setting :)

To some extent, though, it sort of defeats the joy of trying out old MF

no, not at all. those options are still available. this just increases ones options to enjoy them in a different way. it excludes nothing, rather it increases opprtunity.

First gen products from third party manufacturers are generally a no-no for me. (Heck, even I surprised myself getting an A7, convincing myself it wasn't really first-gen since there was NEX and RX1 before it) But the second-generation and more hopefully, some competition, should be extremely exciting! Props to any early adopters out there, would love to hear how it works.

Each focal length lens on infinity, Focus Range w/ adapter:

    Focal length Focus Range
    15mm 6.5cm- Infinity
    21mm 12cm- infinity
    24mm 15cm- infinity
    28mm 20cm- infinity
    35mm 31cm- infinity
    50mm 60cm- infinity
    90mm 1.8m- Infinity
    Infinity 135mm 4.2m-

Lens at mfd, it can focus closer but you loose af infinity, similar to extension tubes....
