Does the viewfinder work, i.e. it is just the screen that is not working? Here is lensrentals.com teardown of the A7ii.

It does not look like replacing the screen is very difficult. I am not sure what part of the world you are in, but you can buy the screens brand new off of ebay for $20-$30 with shipping.

The A7II and A7rII share much of the same internals for cost saving reasons. You're not going to have too much trouble going from one to the other. The screen replacement particularly isn't hard at all.

And you should be able to find the parts either on Ebay or encompass.com

HI guys

Thanks for the replies.

Wasn't really for the replacement of the screen as I have done that along with the ribbon cable and driver board.

I managed to find the service manual online and had a good scout through the schematics looking for the backlight power points.

As its stands after replacing the above mentioned the backlight still doesn't work. But Im not sure if it is more serious problem with the main board or because I bought a cheap Chinese replacement screen. The original displays an image but no backlight but the Chinese one has such poor connection that it will only display an image when the ribbon cable connected to the driver board is held a certain way.

I can't trust that screen to prove there's further issues because its not reliable

I know the image is displayed by shining a light through the back of the screen.

I used a multi meter and do detect a voltage on the correct pin but I'm uncertain of the required power draw or if there is an issue with some kind of switch on signal.

I would bu another screen but they all seem to be the coming from similar places and obviously could still be shoddy or not even the issue at all

Any ideas would be appreciated
