    5 axis stabilization?!

    A7s may have to wait.

    What do you guys think?

    Stabilization with legacy glass?

    Lower ISO shooting?

Haha, I have just seen the SAR page now. For the A7S, I can't see myself enjoying a 12MP limit, and it's too expensive to have as a specialist kit (it would have to be a main camera for me), so I was never planning on getting one anyway.

But if they want to put a pro-grade A9 (or A7ii) out there, it makes sense to throw the whole kitchen sink into it and make a serious challenge to Canikon. It may be that Sony have finally realised this is now-or-never sink-or-swim time, and I certainly hope they do pull it off. The size of the Photokina lenses always pointed to a big new camera coming out that would be worthy of all those high end lenses (especially the Distagon 35/1.4 and 90/2.8 Macro that scream "high end")

But I'll still be using the A7 for at least a year after the next one comes out, and maybe think about getting it once the price has come down a lot.

5-axis stabilization was the main thing I was waiting for. It should also have the AF speed of the A6000 or better, but the A7II specs only show a 2.5 FPS rate, so I'm a little confused as to why they can't do the 11 FPS like the A6000.

There are rumors of two different FF E-mounts coming, maybe the second will have the higher FPS.

Maybe no electronic front curtain? Would be nice if it was silent like the a7s

lol - I had just convinced myself that IBIS would never happen in Emount. Pretty exciting if true.

I feel giddy right now. Exciting stuff. A few comments.

5 axis IBIS with a sony A7 sensor - the stuff dreams are made off

Absolutely hope they make an electronic silent shutter. I have grown accustomed to, and almost like the clank my A7 makes when I take a shot. Its like "BAM, der's your photo fer ya". But it will be nice (and plenty of reasons) to turn it off :p

The 2.5 fps continuous shooting is not a big of a deal for me as I rarely use it on my A7 as it is.

Im not sure that its a given it will have the same ISO performance as the A7s. Mostly because the sensor is the same as the A7 and I believe most of the ISO performance starts with the sensor. I could be wrong though. Definitely I will like to see what the skinny on that is when it comes out. I have a feeling it may not compare to the A7s and be something that differentiates the PRO A9.

AF from the A6000? Ill take it but again not a deal breaker as I shoot mostly MF.

I would like to see a 24fps video mode. I don't shoot a lot of video but when I do I prefer the cinema look of 24 as apposed to 30-60fps. And that cinema quality on a FF sensor with a legacy lens may make me shoot video a LOT more.

Heavier (100g) and thicker. Totally understandable but not great either. 100g isn't much but with a bigger body it will probably seem noticeably heavier at first and then not be a big deal later. I bet the pro will increase even more.

Price? This will tell the tale on whether I upgrade now or wait and blow the savings on the Pro. Time will tell. :D

Weather sealing? No mention so probably not?

Biggest question now for me now is, will they release an A9 and A9R? Or will the A7ii technically be the A9's little brother. I think knowing that will put a lot of what the feature set is in this A7ii in perspective and also mean that even more improvements are yet to come when the A9 is released.

So.. what do you think Deadbear?

Myself personally I wouldn't need to high ISO of the a7s as long as it has that five axis stabilization you should be able to gain a couple stops by shooting slower I have a problem with my A7r with blurring at stuff under 160th of a second when I shoot legacy glass

Keep it at 24 megapixels take out the anti-aliasing filter and use a silent shutter and it would be perfect

No AS filter would be fantastic! Really good point. And yes agree with you on the low ISO performance. I still think they'll skip it as to still give reason to buy an A7s.

I was about to express my doubts about this A7 Mk.II rumor - especially the IBIS part (I thought that would be extraordinarily difficult given the space constraints with the FE mount) - when I double-checked SonyAlphaRumors.com and saw a bunch of additional follow-ups on top of the initial report early this morning. As they are now claiming this new A7 Mk.II may be announced in a matter of days rather than weeks, I suppose we'll know everything soon. We may all have an early Christmas present... even if this new body won't arrive before Christmas, I suspect existing A7 prices may drop further or at least stay at the recent "sale" prices for some time now.

The IBIS will make a lot of longer lens legacy owners happy!

Well, Sony is nothing of not interesting in their new offerings.

I almost think I'd be better off with the existing A7s for my kind of low light usage. (Will obviously have to wait and see what the A7ii has to offer in terms of high ISO, shutter noise and size.)

But using legacy lenses won't make Sony happy ... . For me IBIS is a great thing but I don't have money to get mk. 2 so it is really irrelevant.

This looks pretty sweet, but wont it be necessary to be able to pick the focal length with legacy lenses for stabilisation to work correctly. I think that's what the em5 and em1 have. Fingers crossed sony give us the option.

I wouldn't say that at all. In fact in the video short they show the A7ii at the end amongst seemingly hundreds of lenses and they are boasting that its IBIS is for ALL lenses. While sony currently has a serious deficiency in native glass, I think they will be just tickled pink if everyone buys their cameras. ;) If I were to guess they make more money selling bodies anyway which is why they are putting them out faster then lenses.

You can manually set the focal length to match a legacy lens in the menu system and then the IBIS will work just fine. But I think they updated this in the EM1. I haven't put a legacy lens on my em1 for some time now since I got my A7 so I'll try and test it. But there is a work around.
