I think they will go with a new sensor with an increase in MP as usual (the latter is not something that would interest me personally), 4K probably, silent shutter maybe... I would definately would like the writing times to the card and viewing to be improved too (so a faster processor?)

What I would like to see but probably won't happen is a touchscreen, dual card slots, improved battery life (but with compatible batteries between the existing systems).

Adding AF-C eye af would be welcomed, as well as improvements in AF overall (accuracy, low light, faster, more fps, more af points wider pdaf, and a separate joystick for selecting the focus point maybe).
Definately better UI - menu - and an improvement in the EVF and screen is welcomed too :)

Sony, I don't care what you call it...

GIVE ME a affordable medium format camera, even if its a fixed lens body like the RX1's...........

    UHS-II!!!

Or at least a fully implemented version of UHS-I. Even the top of the line A7rII is a disaster of memory card speed:

Lossless compression for raw files, these uncompressed files fill up my hard drive like there's no tomorrow. And enable playback while writing to the card, heck, my 2006 Nikon D200 could do that!

Agree with the above posts. Sony needs to work on the I/O of its memory controller. Better buffer management too, it's slow to empty into the card, and making the write buffer available for more shots.

I can't wait for the A7 III, so I can get another A7 II for cheap!

Same here, hoping the price of the A7II comes down a bit so I can upgrade...

I would like a body style like the Nex6/A6x00 series, I have oily skin :( and am forever wiping the screen. Dual card slots would be a big big bonus for me. I would on a facile level like the body in silver and don't want more weight.

Please give us dual card slots - the competition (Fuji) has it in its new flagship XT-2 so naturally Sony must respond :D

Oh, and also small/medium RAW option :)

Add more aspect ratios (why not freely configurable anyway???), AF joystick (maybe on the center button of the controlwheel, or next to the AF/MF button), more differentiated focus peaking, make that thing really weatherproof and include the apps for free, you penny pinchers.

Better dynamic range, 36 Mp, and sell it for less than US$2,000.

Well, timing being what it is and forcing me to buy a 2nd camera while my primary (A7II) goes out for repair, I suffered the slings and arrows of misfortune in picking up an open-box A7RII today. Would I have liked to wait? Sure, and it's killing me I gave up some $ for the unimproved A7RII... but not quite. This will hold me just fine.

What would I like in the new Sony A9 or whatever they call it? Better menus, better/more complete choices in custom buttons and function menus, 2nd slot card, faster buffer, better battery life, maybe add some Fuji like choices for the "Styles" and settings within "Styles", and anything they want to do that would better enable B&W sensitivity to red spectrum. Would absolutely love the Histogram to run off the RAW file rather than the JPEG. For the most part, these are tweaks, which is why I'm actually very happy to have picked up the A7RII. Hope to catch the timing a bit better next time 'round. Figure I won't be going back to the store until the Sony A10RIV or whatever comes round. Note there's a new Leica M10... and I won't be going there either. I think Leica just caught up to the Sony A7.:yahoo:

I hope that the successors of the A7 Mark II series will keep the same battery and battery grip; I guess that the successors will feature the new processing chip that is used now in the A99II and A6500, enabling a.o. better AF performance and bigger buffer. Things like better battery life and second card slot may require a bigger camera which I most definitely don't want; the A7R2's extra weight over the A7 is bad enough as it is, although it's well spent on image stabilization IMHO.

A good implementation of Touch AF is something I'm really interested in. Better dynamic range is always nice; according to Bill Claff's measurements the A7II's dynamic range is roughly 1.5 stops below the theoretical maximum so there's room for improvement. The A7R2 is only 0.5 stop below the theoretical maximum between ISO 640 and 25600. It'll be interesting to see what sensor Sony will come up with for the A7II successor.

Brian Smith made a list of features he deems desireable, and I agree with that for 99 %.

I'm happy with my A7RII, and will look forward to incremental updates, though dual card slots would bring piece of mind.

I REALLY dream of the day they take an A7RII, shave off the hump, make it APS-C and call it an A7000. Every button exactly in the same place as the A7RII (maybe reduce height of mode dial or recess it for aesthetics), and accepting the A7RII grip. THAT would be awesome.

GPS. Better menus. Dual cards might be nice.
