    Hi all,
has everyone tried the a5100 for a jacket pocket camera (perhaps large pockets), as an always with you camera? If yes which lenses are you using?

The 16mm, 20mm, and 16-50mm should give you minimal bumps in your pocket.

I had the original 3 and jacketed it a few times, but found it very annoying.

I do this with my 6 from time to time with the kit zoom (about the only time I ever use it). it does fit in a large pocket but I always fear banging it and breaking it.

My Nex5 with the 16-50 fits neatly into most coat pockets. So I imagine the 5100 would be similar.

a5100 looks very small compared to previous nex models.. I guess that was the sonys idea for this product...

I've put my 5N in my coat pocket with 35/1.8. Twice and never again. Didn't trust my expensive lens in there, especially the risk of the lens cap coming off, fingers prints if it did, and fabric getting inside the lens somehow. I might do it with the 20/2.8 but probably not much else.

I jacket my 5R with the SEL16f28, the 20mm should also cut it pretty nicely.

Yea, I only do it with the kit 16-50 for this reason. That and the 35/1.8 is pretty big for a pocket!

Well, although the OP asked about the a5100, since others have mentioned other models including the a6000, I thought I'd chime in to say that no, I never put my a3000 in a pocket. ;)

    (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)

The Sigma 30mm F2.8 on a a5100 is a good fit for a large pocket.

The 20mm without a filter or hood works in a jacket pocket. A filter adds about 25% to the length of the 20mm.
The RX100 will cost a lot more than adding a 16 or 20 to your existing kit, but if you're looking for a quality camera that's pocketable and usable in more situations it is the way to go.
