I took the Sigma 35-70/2.8-4 out for a stroll this morning. On the way to my hiking grounds, the river was shrouded in fog, so I stopped for a couple of quick pics. I am rather disappointed in the first photo. I used the DOF scale to set the focus, and the focus peaking indicated the proper things were in focus, but it looks soft to me. The bokeh in the spider web pic looks harsh from the strong backlight coming through the trees, but the lens did a nice job of isolating the web and the spider. It was very wet and lush from all of the recent storms, and the mosquitos were out en mass, and someone had forgot to replenish the bug repellant in his backpack. I am now covered in tiny red welts, but the photos were worth it.
