With my Helios 44M i have reversed the front lens. With this lens it's very easy to do. Because of that it gives a lot of imperfections like aberrations, ghosting and comas etc. Only the centre is a little sharp and the background gives a radial blur. Most of the times i put an extension tube between the lens and the camera and everything gets really wild and crazy. Most of the time it's a hit and miss because the combo loses a lot of sharpness. For the best effect the background must not be to far away and the aperture is somewhere between F2 and F4.
Well let just see what i mean...

Certainly a special effects lens. I like #4 a lot, gorgeous sense of depth.

    Must....resist.....eBay!!! :D

Great compositions! Swirly and dreamy. I think the extension tubes really made them artistic.
I once tried reversing the rear element of a Rikenon 135mm f/2.8 that was a Sonnar copy. So it was easy with just one element in the rear.
Nothing as exciting as these, was too far from the subject.

Lucky these russian biotars are not that expensive.
I've never tried it with other lenses, but it's fun playing with them...
