I know of this campsite about 5,000 ft. up in the Trinity Alps, with a nice view of Mt. Shasta. And since I was sick of working so much, I rode up there for an overnighter. Got there just before sunset.

Avalanche Gulch in the center of the photo is the "easy" route up the mountain. :rolleyes-20:

After sunset I rolled up to Castle Lake.

It was so pleasant there that I hung around until after the darkness was complete.

I never sleep well on the first night of a camping trip. But the view the next morning made it worthwhile.

Here's hoping now that the weather's improving, I can get in more than just one good ride a month.

Wow David, another breathtaking scenery and some excellent photos!!!
Castle Lake sunrise-2 is my favorite of the set ;)

I'm guessing you used a Polarizing filter for the two sunrise shots? Love the detail through the water

Thanks Nick. But no, no polarizing filter on those shots. But your latest set did inspire me to go out and purchase a 72mm ND filter, which I used on Castle Lake Sunrise-1. It's not obvious, but that's a 25-sec. exposure.
