... but never had an image on "Explore Flickr". One week with an A7Rii and this gets featured:

It's nothing I couldn't have taken with my Olympus gear (and it's really not a particularly spectacular image) - I guess that's just how the internet works!

See? It's about the camera, not the photographer! Just kidding of course ... :D

It's always nice to showcased on there, but the selection process has no rhyme or reason. Nothing to do with any measure of quality, composition, artistic content, etc.
I took a pic of my vegetarian creation for dinner some years ago, with a Canon point-n-shoot. It made it to Explore. :D
That's when I came to the conclusion Explore is not a selection of the best photos. More what is trending, popular, cool, etc.
Pure subjective whim of the moderators. And what tags and groups your photo may have to get viewed by a moderator.

Not saying this isn't a great photo. But there are many great photos that never seem to make it onto Explore.

Yes, totally agree. It does seem a bit random.

Yeah, that is a great photo. But the one photo of mine that got picked for Explore was a real head-scratcher to me. :hmmm:

I think Explore is an algorithm. I don't even think people are involved. That aside. This is a nice shot!

I emailed them asking why an image explored years ago should suddenly be dropped years after.
Result was that all my explored images suddenly disappeared :D
Can't understand what explore is all about.

    Lovely image Paul
