Replied to a CL post about "a box of old Minolta lenses $10 each" and got...

MC Rokkor-X 50/1.4 PG, MD W. Rokkor-X 28/2.8 with original screw on hood, plus a free polarizer ! Not a bad use of $20... That person also had a 70-210 (variable aperture), yet another 50/1.7, and a 2x TC.

Now I need to weed out my manual lens collection, I haven't been using them much lately, having taken more interest in A-mounts and native glass.

So now I have 3 wide primes in same range (Sigma 30/2.8, Kiron 28/2 and now Minolta 28/2.8) and 3 x 50s (SEL50, MC 50/1.4 and MD 50/1.7).

I think I will get rid of 50/1.7, but choosing a 28 to sell will be tough - Kiron is very nice optically and faster but fairly large & heavy (relatively speaking, it's lighter than 50/1.4), and MD is slower but amazingly tiny and light.

Depending on where you live, CL may be the best place for both buying and selling.

I'd keep the Minolta 50mm 1.7. . .but then i'm just a Minolta junkie! I found four minolta lenses in a "lot" on craigslist for $50. So it wasn't much more than what you got them for. Nothing as fast, though! I got a 135mm 3.5 (or 2.8? I have 3 135mm, so i forget which), 55mm 1.7, 28mm 3.5 and a 58mm 1.4. When I couldn't find a good time to meet up with the guy (he was about 45 minutes away) he shipped them to me for an extra $10 (priority mail)!

    So, yes, craigslist!

So, it will be tough choices indeed... I used the Minolta 28/2.8 today and I am really torn between it and Kiron 28/2... Obviously Kiron is faster, and I think it has a nicer bokeh; but this little Minolta is sharp wide open - and also tiny and light.

Most likely this Minolta will end up on Craigslist - I already have a sharp and light Sigma 30/2.8, so keeping Kiron makes more sense. Plus, it's a harder lens to come by.
