That's a pretty versatile lens Dave.
Yes, the more time I use it the more I'm enjoying it. On the Bruny Island boat tour I only carried my 16-50, and my 70-350. In fact for the whole Tasmanian trip I only used those two lenses, and occasionally my 12mm manual Samyang.

You got some beauties in that set, Dave.
Thanks David. I was quite pleased with my longer exposure shots in particular. Even though I had my tripod in the car, the walking conditions, and, or, the number of people made it impracticable most of the time. My solution was to take my monopod, and brace that by hand to nearby trees or hand rails.

The valley of the upper Franklin River, one of the last wild rivers in Australia. In 1983 I spent 12 days rafting this river from a point just upstream from this photo. In the 12 days we only saw one man made object other than fellow rafters or bushwalkers.

Beautiful.
I envy you your Franklin trip. I've done some walks.
As it happens my partner and I were camper trailering in Tassie exactly 5 years ago and your shots have awakened an itch to go back.

It was a great trip, alas on the second day my waterproof housing split, writing off my camera and film. Love Tasmania, and my wife and I are seriously considering retiring there.

Lighthouse at Hell's Gate, the entrance to Maquarie Harbour is said to have been given this name by the convicts sent here. It is a very narrow curved channel opening directly into the Southern Ocean. In the background you can see one of several current schooling walls built by convicts in row boats from rocks quarried by hand.

Our final day in Tasmania was spent hiking around Dove Lake to the northern face of Cradle Mountain Summit via Hansons Peak, the Face track, Kitchen Hut, and Marion's Lookout. According to my wife's FitBit we covered 17.5km (11miles), and climbed over 204 floors, all I know is we were very tired at the end of the day.

Not so much of a holiday: more of a marathon? ;)
Not really a marathon, strenuous, yes but given the scenery worth it. We knew that this walk was going to be the most difficult of the trip, so it was left until last. The following day we had 11+ hours of lounging on the ferry back to Melbourne.

Thank you for sharing your trek Dave. Appreciate your having taken the time to share it with us here.
Yes, since none of us are going anywhere for the foreseeable future, it's great that we can at least travel vicariously.
Thanks guys, I have enjoyed reliving the trip as well. We did it just in time, as Tasmania is now effectively quarantined from the rest of Australia. Hope everyone here stays healthy, and safe.
