    M42 slim adapter for A7R2

I remember feeling naive asking a similar question in this forum last year and was treated very kindly. Yep, it's the flange distance, so slim ain't happening.

@Arutemu It's the Kiron that does it for me out of those 2 images, thanks for posting.

    Adapter Question

Looking back on my question and the answers given, it seems the Takumar was one of the worst cases I could have provided for seeking a thinner adapter given the flange focus distance. I can see though that the best chances of using a thin adapter would be with Leica or Contax rangefinder lenses...

    Adapter Question

Apologies if this sounds a bit naive or silly, but it's something I'd like to know and here's a good a place to ask as any. Is there an adapter which is 'thin', or makes you feel that you are connecting your adapted glass to your A7 natively? Or to put it another way, I have a Takumar 50mm...

Anybody try the Techart Pro AF Leica M adapter yet?

Is the setup clunky? Doesn't bother me, as the images produced are clearly stellar. I'd just like to know.

Well that puts to bed this "M mount doesn't work on A7" theory I often see opined.

    Showcase Minolta 135/2.8 MD

I do love legacy 135mm F2.8 lenses, often wrongly neglected because of the 'slow' aperture but just as sharp as as the faster modern versions and IMO wonderful bokeh or whatever you want to call it. Not getting a legacy 135mm seems a bit silly when you have the perfect body (A7) to exploit it.

Zeiss Batis 25mm, worth a try???

I wonder if it's manual focusing and exposure locking that creates the "magic"?

I must admit, my attention was drawn to the Minolta.

    Voigtlander 10, 12, 15 E mount lenses

You generally can't go wrong with a Nokton, whatever camera eco system you are in. Made in the same factory as the Zeiss glass aren't they? No matter, aside from the excellent optics, I always love the wonderful focus ring on a Nokton which seems to make MF that much more easy and enjoyable.

    Yes, I know....... BLASPHEMY

Like you @TedG954 , I have a D800(E), but only on the strict understanding that its used for landscapes (and maybe portraits) and if you're going to get the best out of that or a Sony A7, the size of the required lenses make both systems big. So would I take that gear on a week long country...

Yes, massive problems over the last day, which has gone away now. You almost expect it to happen again. Wouldn't even let me access the website which was apparently 'invalid'.

    Use of Images......

I accept that once I post on Flickr, the image is gone. Having said that I'd be mightily p"#sed off if I took a picture of my pet and that same image ended up on someone's promo which they're making money from. Sympathies from me for sure.

This is an immensly useful thread for those of us considering the Zeiss 35/f1.4 on other systems as the images will practically be the same, MF abilities notwithstanding.

Streets of Eindhoven (or anywhere else really)

If you're somewhere where no one knows you and you won't be going back for another year or forever, then pointing a big camera (which to me, in 'stealth' terms, means an A7 + non pancake lens, even the famed M9) is not that much of a problem as you won't instinctively be as conscious. I even...

Streets of Eindhoven (or anywhere else really)

I wonder how that would look if you cropped deeply to the 2 ladies to the left at the back? Presumably you could get away with doing that with the FF file. Yeah, I know some will say that's not what SP is about etc etc, but it's the resulting image that counts, right?

Streets in Eindhoven on a hot and sunny day

Very interesting OP and responses. Not sure an A7 and accompanying lens is the most stealthy of setups for street shooting, an A6xxx or Nex camera seems better suited. Sony also has the tools needed to produce a fine GR/X70/Coolpix A fixed focal lens apsc camera as well which I'd like to see.

    Sometimes I wonder

I get this. I mean, what's the point of getting a full frame camera? Isn't the major difference shown in the prints? If I had a full frame camera, that's where I'd be headed, otherwise what would be the point in spending a considerable sum of money on a camera and lenses without really...

Is A7ii the way to go? Anyone made a move from m4/3 to Sony FF or back again to m4/3?

@MAubrey , so what's replacing the Olympus 75mm for you? (I only ask as, in addition to the m43 size, that lens has always been the primary reason stopping me from leaving that system).
  47. R

    Stupid questions

This is exactly what's put me off getting a DSLR/long native E mount lens, I'm so self consious I think I'm going to get asked this every time I go out with one.
