    NEX-7 Review Sightings

I've only managed a quick look at the samples from Imaging Resource, but the resolution and detail at 100 ASA at least, is amazing!

Your camera history, or: How did you get to the NEX?

Let me think....... Kodak Instamatic, Zenith E, Fujica ST705, Contax 139, Bronica ETRS, Nikon 801, Yashica Mat 124, an unknown Konica APS camera, Minolta S404 digital, Nikon D200 digital and most recently a Sony NEX 5.

Wow! has anyone else tried this software? I've just tried the free trial (10 images) and am mightily impressed. It is used to correct distortions, e.g. chromatic aberrations, barrel distortion, pincushion distortion and perspective problems. If using for example a NEX-5 with the kit zoom...

    50 mm lens as always-on standard-lens? [SEL50F18]

Zeiss 24/1.8 - Would you buy for $999?

Rip off Britain alive and well I have been doing some comparing and a few calculations. Rip off Britain is alive and well. I have looked on the US site BHP and found the NEX-7 body only for sale at about $1200 . In Britain the NEX-7 is on sale for £1000 (an equivalent price of $1627 !)...

    To viewfind or not....?

Hi Penny, try one of these. Bought it off ebay from China for about £15; does the biz, keeps glare off the screen. Sorry folks for double posting, believed the original post had not 'posted' and can't seem to delete this one!

Hi Penny, You should try a snap on hood; I got one from China on ebay for about £15. It folds out and provides sufficient protection from the glare from the sun.

    It's Here! - Sort of

Distortion correction I am sure I have seen somewhere on at least one website mention of distortion compensation etc but am darned if I can find it now; does the NEX-7 have inbuilt software that corrects for such distortions and abberations? This would be invaluable on the wider angle 3rd party...

    Portrait with a slight difference

Pleased that you like it Yves. The shot was taken inside a pub, The Hole in the Wall, in Torquay, Devon, England. Taken on NEX-5 with the kit zoom lens without flash, ISO 800, 1/50 sec at f5.0

    To viewfind or not....?

Many moons ago I used to own Bronica ETRS (6 x 4.5) and Yashicamat 124 (6 x 6) film cameras. They took superb photographs. One of the joys for me was peering down into the hood at the ground glass focussing screen. The NEX is a similar experience which I also enjoy.

    To viewfind or not....?

Hi Hugg. I think it depends on what type of photos you take; for sports and action a camera with a traditional viewfinder is probably best. I find that for the types of photos I now take (i.e. nowt moves about too quickly!) the NEX screen is ideal.:D

    Sheffield, my local city

Hi Olli. The weird stainless steel buildings were built as the national centre for popular music over 10 years ago in an attempt to draw in tourists from other parts of the U.K. Flopped. They are now used as the admin centre for students attending Sheffield Hallam University. The thing about...

Show what your adapted lens looks like on your Sony E-mount camera

Idoblu; Absolutely gorgeous lenses! I have a question about the 25mm....does it suffer from any corner issues e.g. light fall off or colour shifts? I have been drooling over the Biogon C35mm/2.8 for some time, but will wait to see how the new 24/1.8 pans out.

What are the benefits of the NEX System?

I agree with the above comments; I have a D200 c/w 16-85m DX lens upstairs just "gathering dust", I haven't used it in over 6 months or so. My main concern with the D200/delight with the NEX-5 is the weight issue, the NEX-5 is so much lighter and easier on the shoulder to carry about compared...

    Billingham Camera bag

I got a new camera bag for my Birthday yesterday. Had my eye on it for a while but got my hands on it yesterday. It is a Billingham Hadley (small). It is made of canvas, with leather trimmings and brass fittings. It is not too big and will hold comfortably my NEX-5 with kit zoom and a couple...

    more variety in lenses

I read Mike Johnston's piece on TOP last night and it made me feel a little uneasy. Basically it said that Sony are good at designing and making good, innovative cameras, but suck when it comes to making lenses. I think (hope) NEX's saving grace is, as Alexandru has pointed out, you can...
