    Triopo TR-950 flash, anyone?

On eBay I have found a very cheap flash, Triopo TR-950, with some promising features like power 35 (in meters) and powerset down to 1/128. It also have a PC-terminal and refelector that is adjustable. Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1609589967...ht_7173wt_1141 Has anyone tested this flash? I...

    Bag(s) for NEX 6

I use a Lowepro Messenger 150 for my NEX-7, four lenses (10-18, 18-55, 50, 55-210), flash (HVL-43AM), small tripod (tabletop) and some small items like battery, lenspen, flashlight etc. It suites me but I have to stack lenses. The 55-210 is standing alone in its owe compartment. The 50mm is...

    ISO setting for right key

It looks like mentioning which camera the qustion is about helped a lot. As Colin write, you can chose to have the ISO locked when pressing and holding the Function button until it locks. You press and hold the same button if you want to unlock to change the ISO (or a lot of other stuff). It is...

    What is your tripod?

    a. Yes, it will fit the NEX-F3 by means of attaching the Quick Release plate to the camera and then mount it on the tilt head. I think it will not be very sturdy as the camera has a very small mounting plane to the QR plate. b. It is a tilt head that is only movable in one direction (up and...

    What is your tripod?

You are right! I just forgot about that that particular article. Lucky me I also forgot to include the monopod in the picture as I wouldn´t like to pay the huge penalty for violating that law.

    What is your tripod?

:biggrin::biggrin: Tru but it should be exactly 50% as I forgot to include my monopod :p .

New to NEX, can't decide... SEL50F18 or a manual lens? Convince me either way.

One thing that is not mentioned here about legacy lenses is the lack of EXIF info. You will not know anything about exposure data exept exosure time and date/time of course. Nothing about which lens (no broblem if you only have one) or aperture used. What you also will lack as already mentioned...

Owners of the 10-18 f4...how do you like your lens?

I have had the lens for a few days now but unfortunately I have not got time or oportunity to give it a good work out yet. Either I have been to work or the weather has ben bad or to dark to do any good tests. The only thing I can say is that its built quality is much, much higher than the...

UV filter or not? Maybe this one is good enough?

We are told that we get what we pay for. In that case this Sony 49mm UV filter should be good enough even for those that say filters are no good: Sony 49mm MC Protecter (VF-49MPAM) for DSLR On Sale | eBay Amazing they have sold two already at a price of £2344 each! But don´t worry if you...

A bit of help with my two adapted lenses

The size of filter and lensshade are usually printed on the front lens ring. For the Minolta 50 it is most likely 55mm but can also be 49mm. It depends on model and date of manufacture. The adapter can´t be any smaller as the distanse from the camera lensflange and the lens rear flang has to be...

Ever got to a shoot and found no SD card in your NEX?

I have always, from the first digital camera I owned, copied the files from the memorycard to the computer or mobile HDD. Then I delete what is on the card and insert it into the camera imediately afterwards. I belive that is why I have never missed it or gone out with an empty camera (so far...

My Lowepro Messenger 150 and NEX-7

I have now completed my light travel kit that I carry in a Lowepro Messenger 150 bag. I find this bag well suited to my needs and with a form factor that makes it not protruding to much when walking in crowded places. Pics not taken with NEX but I hope that is alright under the circumstances...

    lens protector?

I am not shure what you mean by "lens protector". I can think of three different things: a UV (UltraViolet) filter, a lensshade or a front (as well as rear) lens cap. I would think eBay is the best place to purchase these things.

    Looking for new lens

It sounds like a real wide would be suitable for landscaping, lakes and citties (urban landscapes). I come to think of the Sony E 10-18mm wide angle zoom. After all it fits directly on the NEX, has autofocus and OSS.

I don't know why I do these things....

The NEX is small and easy to carry when traveling but sometimes a bit awkward to handle. I very much miss a terminal for a threaded remote control on the NEX and the OVF of my DSLR is astonishing.

    Who prints?

I print on an Epson 4880 17" printer. It works very well I think and with 220ml cartridges it is fairly economic. I am very amazed over the printers ability to be "off duty" for several months and prints after that with no trouble. No clogged nozzels so far. I mount the prints on acid free...

Questions about old Minolta lenses and E-Mount weight handling.

The plastic lock at smallest aperture came with the introduction of Minolta cameras with Shutter priority as well as Aperture priority. When setting the camera in S-mode it was important to set the lens att it minimum aperture ore else the camera could not use the apertures smaller than what the...

Backup: External hard drives or off site data storage?

Old thread but still up to date subject. I store my RAW on a separete HDD in my main PC. TIFF/JPG files from Lightroom are stored on two NAS HDD depending on picture usage. All is backed up on an external HDD that I keep at work in case of burglary, fire or other disaster. I use SyncToy for...

    Anybody tried a Microsoft Surface.

Parhaps this is something for you if you only want to unloead the SD-card and store the pictures: HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA. There are several others like this but I just happens to have this since a few years back. Works very well and fast.

    Midnight sun - (SEL1017)

I really like that photo although the star trails are a litle bit disturbing. But as it is only 8 rather strong ones the could easily be cloned out. I belive that star trails on an "ordinary" photograph like this (I write ordinary as it is not the star trails that is the main subject) is a bit...

    First try with focus stacking

Not much to see really. It is just the bottom part of a bellows with focusing rail. The bellows part is removed and replaced with a distance block and a ARCA clamp. It is good for focusing and focus stacking of larger items where movement between shots are at least two millimetres or more. When...

Adding a lens hood to lens that doesn't originally have one?

In the ancient times of manual focus lenses almost no lenses had bayonet mounted lenshoods. They were almost allways threaded or sometimes pushed on the outside of the lensbarrel where the filter thread is, then locked with a small locking screw (Minolta 21mm I belive was like that). I would...

    First try with focus stacking

Macro photography and focus stacking seem to be a very interesting field to explore. I am dreaming of a StackShot assembly but price is rather steep. With P&P, custom fees and VAT it will raise from $660 purchase price to about $950 when finally picked up at the post office. Maybe it will be...

    5x Macro lens, any good?

OK, thanks! But with a magnification between 4 and 5 the target will be 7 - 5.6 mm. DOF will probably be very small I guess. How about focus stacking with this lens? Is it possible, bad idea or is it better to use a long macro lens in combination with a front mounted reversed short focal lengs...

    Remote Control för NEX-7?

I have just noticed that there seem to be no threaded remote control to be used with the NEX-7. Is that really the case or am I (hopefully) missing something somewhere? I can use the RMT-DSLR1 that was submitted with the A900 but that looks to be usable only from the front of the camera. It is...

    ARCA L-bracket for LA-EA2?

Now I have the answer to my problem! I have just bought an used RRS LA-EA2 L-bracket. I got it very cheap so it was worth to gamle that it might interfere with the camera L-bracket. But it doesn´t! As the "L" or the part that is used for portrait mode of the Sunwayfoto L-bracket is very thin I...
