    That looks familiar...

Wow, tell your wife great job!
  4. Bimjo

What size do you prefer to view/post images?

Easier on everyone if you post a smaller image and link to a larger version. :)

    Pic a day....

You sewed a camera?!?? My wife's machine won't do that! :dance3:
  6. Bimjo

    Pic a day....

Thanks, that makes a nice end to a lousy day.

    Ridiculed by fellow photogs.

Criticism from the "everything from the front lens element to infinity must be in focus" crowd, how novel!

    Heavy lens tripod support

You could use a bean bag. Place the bean bag on top of the tripod and rest the lens on the bean bag. If you need to be hands-free, you could wrap an Ace bandage around the lens/tripod. You'd need to experiment, as focus might be challenging. :)

You think they look funny standing still, you see see 'em on the move. Scroll down to the trip home section for the alpaca event. I took a little trip...

    2017 Solar Eclipse

I would wow you all with my stunning eclipse pics, but unfortunately, I was standing there with my fly catcher hanging open when I should have been shooting the money shots. On the other hand, the solar filter was still on the camera anyway, so it would have been a fail even if I had...

    CV 10mm E mount lens

I continue to be astounded by the lack of distortion at the edge of the frame with this lens. Nice shots Ted. :)

800mm f/8 Mirror Lens for the Eclipse?

That's the other option. It's still a coin flip at this point. :)
  16. Bimjo

800mm f/8 Mirror Lens for the Eclipse?

The two that I had worked reasonably well as "closeup" lenses. Never could ever get them to take a sharp pic at distance. One of the old heavy metal Makarov's (or similar) should work though. Where ya gonna go for the eclipse? I'm thinking about heading down to Lime to see if I can get some...

I have the same flower and mine have them as well.

The bokeh on this looks like brush strokes. Well done! :)

The Long Exposure Thread - Post your photos

Ok, let's try this again. No idea why it isn't showing, but maybe a clean load will work.

The Long Exposure Thread - Post your photos

Apparently the file got corrupted on upload. It should work now. :)

The Long Exposure Thread - Post your photos

A couple of long ones from the Boston harbor shoot last week. Five seconds as we were moving between the boardwalk and the old pier. Love that cobalt blue sky. Ninety seconds. And a 3 minute shot w/the ND400 on. Just because I could. :) And finally, a little bit of moon action. Only 4...

    Pic a day....

Spent last week in Boston visiting my son. He's in a camera club & they did a evening shoot down by the harbor. I tagged along to see if anything caught my fancy. 311E Who says you can't have it now? And later? And there always has to be one malcontent in the bunch. Marching in a...

    Reworked some Voigtlander 10mm shots

Love that first tower shot. :)
  24. Bimjo

    Lens flare why ?

Could be many things- you were standing on concrete or over water, he was standing on grass. Lens coatings. Reflectivity of the sensor stack. He was squinting just right. the planets were aligned in his favor. Take your pick. :)

    Lake Tahoe's Night Sky

While these are all stunning, the first one speaks to me more than the others. Well done & thanks for sharing! :)

    Pic a day....

It's been a tad nippy in these parts lately.

Showcase Voigtlander Color Skopar 21mm f/4

Sorry for the delay, I had to find this. These are all LTM screw mount. The M mount version looks more like the 50 on the right with the hood removed.

    I bet it tastes like chick'n! :dance3:

    Falls in Fall

Well done! Not sure what a normal flow for this time of year is, but sometimes less is more. :) Tough to pick a fave, though #5 & the last really grab me.
  31. Bimjo

A7 sensor dust is pretty much ruining the A7 love for me

Your sensor is approximately ⅔ closer to the lens mount than it was with a dslr. It's going to gather more dust just by virtue of being closer to the dust than a dslr. Just a fact of mirrorless life you learn to deal with. :)

    Manual Shooting with Adapted Lenses

The pic with the data is with your other pics. Then you use a exif editor as Ad stated. Whatever way you do it, you have to edit exif to jave the data with the pic. :)

    Manual Shooting with Adapted Lenses

It does if you prop the phone on your feet like a penguin egg and shoot it that way. :dance3:
  34. Bimjo

    Manual Shooting with Adapted Lenses

You can always use your phone to write focal length & aperture on. Then shoot the phone at the beginning/end of a run of pics. Takes a little time, but it works pretty well. At least if you're like, me and tend to shoot at the best MTF aperture for the lens and seldom change it. And yes, I do...

    Broken links

Yeah, it's on my list of things-to-do. Gotta get the web page sorted first. :)

    Broken links

Ok, looks like we're back in business. :)
  40. Bimjo

    Broken links

Well, I switched web hosts after 15+ years. Wasn't particularly unhappy with my host, but they switched to a new system and broke my email. My contract was due for renewal, so I looked around and found a new host with a reasonably comparable set up for ¼ the price. No brainer actually...

$1 Billion lawsuit against Getty Images for copyright infringement

Wow, one wonders how many people have paid Getty and Alamy for images that are actually in the public domain. I hope she wins her suit.

The wife likes this one too, with a tip-o-the-quilters-cap. :clapping:

How you deal with photo 'zealots'?

I've always asked a simple question- "Are you going to fund me replacing my equipment with your 'superior' equipment? If you aren't, then STFU." Then again, I have been known to be lewd, rude, crude and socially unacceptable at times. :daz:

Some shots with the Voigtlander 10mm

I continue to be impressed by the images I see from this lens. What I find most impressive is the lack of distortion across the frame. Yes, things are tilted, but the lines are straight!

Show what your adapted lens looks like on your Sony E-mount camera

Possible. Bring money. Focal Point, Inc. | Professional Lens Repair & Cleaning, Camera & Photographic Optics I'd try a polarizer first.

    Kodak Printing Ektar lens 100mm f4.5 +short Helicoid a6000

That's some funky bokeh. Really unusual, I like the way it renders.

Showcase Voigtlander Color Skopar 25mm f/4

Disappointing no doubt. Strangely, these lenses worked well on film. Then again, we weren't quite so discerning when the negative was an inch by an inch-and-a-half vs. however big your monitor is.

    My Voigtlander 10mm....

    This should be fun. :)
