Need Wacom or similar recommendation for photo editing/compositions

I have the Huion H610 too. The pen isn't very good but there is a rechargeable one available that seems to be thinner. It is inexpensive too at 13 € from Ebay. I don't know how good the tablet is for drafting or drawing but it is completely ok for me for photo editing. Unfortunately I have no...

    Showcase Yashica 50mm f1.4 (Sony A7II )

If I remember correctly, Tomioka did made lenses for Yashica. When Zeiss and Yashica started CY camera business Yashica acquired Tomioka and both Contax and Yashica lenses were made there. There are some rumours that Yashica 135mm/2.8 was made by Tokina.

    Showcase Yashica 50mm f1.4 (Sony A7II )

Was the lens Yashica ML? I have ML 28mm/2.8, 35mm/2.8, 50mm/2.0, 50mm/1.7 & 50mm/2.0. All pretty nice. The macro lenses have quite good reputation and the 135mm/2.8 not so.

    Carbon fibre tripods

I just got Sirui T-1005X (aluminum). It weights 1 kg and costs 139 € locally. Sirui T-1205X (carbon fibre) would have cost 279 € and weights 800 g. Otherwise quite similar specs. I think that I will carry the extra 200 g and keep the money. Btw, this tripod replaces Velbon UT 43D that I broke...

    Focal reducers ?

28mm wasn't wide enough when shooting film for me with old cities (Tallinn). I purchased Samyang 12mm for that but haven't had a choice to use it there but it worked nicely in Budapest. I have never been in Prague but I imagine it has pretty narrow streets too. Anyway one lens is too few, I...

(updated with pics) NEED HELP ASAP! Re-assembling Soligor 135mm F2.0

They are hard to line up. Usually there is quite a bit of play in helicoids and helicoid grease is used to take care of fitting them together but they must be exactly on same line and the helicoids will start to screw in in many positions. When dismantling helicoids you usually mark where you...

(updated with pics) NEED HELP ASAP! Re-assembling Soligor 135mm F2.0

I think that these bronze things are guides stabilizing the helicoid. There are suitable places for them in the front piece. The helicoid will screw in in several positions but only one of them is correct one, the front piece has got 3 starts showing so I think that there is something like 8...

There seems to rather small exit hole in that lens. Don't know if that can be enlarged.

    Kaxinda 35mm f1.7

It doesn't seem to be a CCTV lens cosmetically as it has got a nice focusing and aperture rings. Optics may come from a originally CCTV lens but I doubt it as it has 6 lenses in 5 groups and filter diameter is 49mm. Interesting lens anyway. Maybe it is a Chinese copy of a old SLR lens.

Is anyone shooting a converted Sony of Infrared?

Is anyone shooting a converted Sony of Infrared?

The problem is rather heavy mailing costs to USA and back. Customs are troublesome too. We pay 24% VAT for import outside EU. Rf-603 models are camera specific, will work with any flash. You will need adapter from rf-603 to the flash however.

AlienBees 800 or Yongnuo 560 as my starter basement lighting setup?

I would start with two yn560. If you need more power ad360 is very handy but the yn560 would work as a auxillary flashes with it. I am going that route in the autumn. I think that yn 560 are about 60 Ws and light modifiers can take up to 3 stops of light. 2 yn560 will have combined guide number...

A6000 and YN560IV remote triggering issues

Maybe the rf-603 won't seat completely. Easy way to check this is to use permanent felt tip pen and blacken the central connector pin. Insert the RF-603 several times and see if there is scratch in the central pin.

Can someone explain this in easy terms about A7II and "isoless" test

I think he is trying to measure photon noise in dark parts of image. That way you could compare sensors in one important aspect 'what is maximum ISO where dark parts of image don't have too much noise'.

What to do what to do...

I think that used A7 is about 800 € (plus taxes, VAT is here in Finland 24%). With that money you can get lots of legacy glass (or a few quality ones) and few new ones too. Something like: OM 24/2.8 150€ Samyang 35mm/1.4 500€ (would take Contax Zeiss Distagon 35mm/2.8 instead but it is slow)...

    Zeiss Batis

Group cam mean several things. A cemented group where lenses are cemented together or group of lenses that move together. Tamron design shows 3 cemented duplets and total of 8 lenses and there are 3 subgroups of lenses so you can call it 11 element in 8 groups or 11 elements in 3 groups (I...

I wonder if duct tape will mount my Canon FDn lenses...

What I really need would be a dump phone with good quality 1/2" sensor and C-mount capability.
  32. X

I wonder if duct tape will mount my Canon FDn lenses...

You need some optics to transform a 35mm lens to be usable on 1/4" sensor, kind of Speed Booster that takes into account the existing lens (like the BeastGrip has).

How do you macro on cheap with your nex lens

There are macro tubes for E-mount with electronic contacts that allow autofocus but with macro it is better move the camera and keep focus distance constant (or manually focus). Shoot lots of images and with luck some are focused correctly.

    What is the heavies lens

It is pointless to use a tripod with 1.5 kg lens if you are going to use the camera tripod socket. It will be very unstable. I have a Tair 3 that is about 1.7 kg. There are lens collars available. If they fit your lens it is better to use them than adapter with tripod socket as it is better to...

Interesting discovery about my 25 year old Sunpak Auto 433D Flash Units

Flashes operate at roughly 300 V. There is a switching mode power unit combined to a transformer that brings voltage to these levels. The triggering voltage may be anything between this 300 volts and a few volts. Old ones have simple thyristor circuit that exposes all that voltage, modern ones...

    Bought a Nikkor 105mm f2,5 AI today

    Showcase Mamiya Sekor 55mm f/1.4, m42 mount

One problem with legacy lenses is that there may be several versions of the lens that work ok with film but some versions work with sensor and some don't. If the rear element is flat there will be multiple reflections between sensor and rear lens (like having two mirrors parallel). The coatings...

Looking for a Sony 35mm flat field lens

For copy work macro lenses work best. Legacy 50mm macros may be one option. Lots of copy work is done with enlarger lenses too as they are optimized for high resolution and flat field. Designing a flat field zoom is difficult. Zooms have problems with distortions too. The Sony 30mm macro may be...

Minolta MD Macro 50mm f3.5 tight focus ring ?

Oiling is really bad idea. If you have to clean helicoid use a felt tip pen to mark where it comes off as this helps greatly with assembly. I have used super lube (the grease kind, not the oil) to grease the helicoid but there are several specially made greases for the purpose. Q-tips (the...

mitakon 85mm f1.2 coming super soon

That isn't certainly everyday lens. I am quite happy with Contax Sonnar 85mm/2.8 too and even happier with Samyang 85mm/1.4 (serves as a 85mm/1.4 and 50mm/1.0 with lens turbo). Price is quite heavy and a ff body might be better option for me.

I made a completely usable soft focus lens from a pair of menisculus doublets. It is too soft when stopped down 3 stops but pretty nice 4 stops down. Nex-7 and fast lens use

I think that the solution is in that some faster lenses use more aspherical lenses and are better calculated and you can push the max aperture just a slight bit further that way (and aspherical elements will reduce spherical aberrations with smaller apertures too). There is a theoretical max...
